The Infantry Regiment formed the basis of the Infantry Division during WWII. Each regiment contained vehicles, artillery, motors, field kitchens, medical battalions, scout cars, and signal corps. In other words, there was a lot behind the line to support the front line soldier.
To represent the full breadth of the 134th Regiment, the 35th Infantry welcomes well researched impressions from signal corps photographers to combat artists to radiomen.Â
But if you're new, it can be overwhelming to get started. Below you will find some basic "starter kits" that contain a list of items essential for participating in a front-line tactical battle reenactment, or accurately portraying a combat soldier at a public event.
You will want to have at least one of these "starter kits" to meet basic uniform requirements for battle participation with the 35th.
A seasoned reenactor might have all-original unform pieces for events. For those more caring about recycling 70+ year old field gear, you can purchase reproduction clothing and equipment.
The ol' standby for most is At The Front. Others have purchased from WWII Impressions, What Price Glory, SM Wholesale, and any other vintage-clothing manufacturer.
At The Front sells a uniform package deal to make things easy!
Otherwise, it is buying and trading with fellow reenactors or scouring eBay, garage sales, flea markets, estate sales, and antique shops. This hobby isn't cheap, but it's a bit cheaper for those who know their uniforms. You can find helpful research links in our Resources section.
